How it differs from the built-in "Lasso Select"
PowerPoint does have a "Lasso Select", but it is ink-only and cannot select ordinary shapes. Lasso for PPT fills that gap.
PowerPoint (built-in)
Lasso select is ink-only. Shapes can only be picked with a rectangular drag, which grabs unwanted shapes when they overlap.
Lasso for PPT
Circle ordinary objects — text boxes, shapes, images, tables — with a freehand stroke and select exactly what you want.
Features
- Select all objects (text boxes, shapes, images and more) inside a freehand stroke drawn with the mouse
- Launch from the "Lasso for PPT" button on the Home tab, or the hotkey Ctrl+Alt+Z
- A shape is selected if its center is inside the lasso (Esc to cancel)
- English / Japanese (switches automatically by OS language)
How to use
- In Normal view, open a slide that has shapes
- Press the "Lasso for PPT" button on the Home tab, or Ctrl+Alt+Z → the screen dims slightly
- Circle the target shapes with the mouse and release → shapes whose center is inside the lasso are selected
